Camping A Vouga, Louro, Spain

After our night in Santiago, we headed to the coast for a few nights.  I have to say that we didn’t book anything in advance.  We were heading towards Muros.  The first campsite we tried was full, the second didn’t allow dogs, but thankfully the third one did.  That was Camping A Vouga.  The campsite sits right on the beach.  The site isn’t very large and you are pretty close to your neighbours, but we really liked it, and so did the dogs.  There is a restaurant where we had a good meal, the toilets are clean, and there was a dog shower.

IMG_2953The dog shower had hot and cold water and the hose was attached to dog shampoo, which was perfect for getting the sand off after a run on the beach.

Dogs were tolerated on the beach, but we would take them for a run first thing in the morning when the beach was empty so as not to bother anyone.   They had great fun running and digging in the sand.  You can walk towards Louros along a boardwalk where there is a park along the beach and where many families come to spend the day with a picnic.  We found a nice shady spot away from the crowds.

The water was very calm and perfect for swimming with the dogs, however, it was pretty cold!  People were amused watching the dogs swimming as most of the dogs on the beach were fairly small yappy things that never went near the water.

We found a lovely restaurant down the road from the campsite where we ate outside with the dogs.  The people that own it are lovely and the portions were generous.  There was no rush for anything it was so chilled.  It is always a bonus to find somewhere good to eat and that is within reasonable walking distance too.

If you want somewhere chilled to stay on a beach and where dogs are welcome, you can’t go wrong at Camping A Vouga.
